What is Silaferm?
Silaferm is a unique silage additive comprised of nutrients resulting from the fermentation of molasses and sugars to produce amino acids. Silaferm is high in crude protein and also contains a complex mixture of nutrients that act to enhance the value of silage. These include ammonium salts, free amino acids, peptides, lysed bacteria, betaine, sugars, organic acids, and minerals.
Why use Silaferm?
Silaferm increases the value of silage by increasing digestibility, decreasing plant proteolysis and increasing dry matter recovery from the silo. Inoculants only act to preserve value, they don’t increase silage value.
High feed prices require improved efficiency and feeding silage treated with Silaferm increases digestible feed intake.
Silaferm lowers the cation-anion balance in silage. Having silage that is low in cation-anion balance can be a valuable tool when balancing specific diets to meet a DCAD target.
